Intel and AMD Partnership | What to expect
Hello to all the Geeks and Gamers out there.
Well today we have a news for Gamers specifically. In today's post we will be sharing the hot news of the collaboration between two tech giants. The two companies AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) and Intel. The news spread like fire in the jungle that AMD and Intel have partnered to produce a new laptop chip. Well that's true and is now officially confirmed by both of the companies.
In the press release the Vice President and General Manager of AMD, Scott Herkelman confirmed the news by saying
"Our collaboration with Intel expands the installed base for AMD Radeon GPU's and brings to market a differentiated solution for high performance graphics."
Intel have reported that the chip will be for thin and lightweight laptops that will be capable of running extreme games.
Intel is the worlds second largest and second highest valued semiconductor chip makers. The processors found in almost all of the personal computers including Apple, Dell, Lenovo and HP are supplied by Intel.
Radeon is a brand of computer products that produces Graphics Processing Units (GPU), Random Access Memory (RAM) and Solid State Drives (SSD). It is mostly known because of its Graphics Processing Units.
The big news is that Intel and AMD have partnered with each other to produce a computer chip. It is said to be a part of the Eighth Generation Intel Series. Intel has announced that it will be launching processors with integrated AMD graphics. The computer chip will be using the Intel's Processor and AMD's Graphic Processing Units (GPU). The aim of the two is to make a light weight easy portable personal computer to serve purposes such as intensive gaming etc. Another aim is to reduce or decrease the impression of Nvidia in the market. But that solely depends upon performance.
In order to achieve this common aim Intel has introduced a new technology known as the Embedded Multi Die Interconnect Bridge (EMIB), we can think of it as two embedded dies that are connected to each other with the help of a bridge that joins CPU with the GPU.
There are many problems that one encounters in order to increase performance.
- As an example we can see the Kaby Lake G line. Here the integrated graphics were combined with 128 MB of cache in order to increase performance. Well the result was good as it helped in increasing the performance but it was not like the NVIDIA.
- Another problem that is encountered in order to increase performance is Memory bandwidth. But it is being said that the High Bandwidth Memory (HBM2) will solve this issue.
- Driver support is also one of the issues faced by AMD in the near past.
REDUCED POWER CONSUMPTION
High Bandwidth Memory (HBM2) is the solution, as it will help reduce the power consumption. The new cores built by Intel and AMD altogether will use Embedded Multi Die Interconnect Bridge (EMIB) in place of the interposer that is being used in the regular HBM2.
INTEL-AMD COLLABORATION OFFER
There would be various advantages of the collaboration of Intel and AMD other than performance. Performance may not be quite much different or distinct as compared to NVIDIA. But there are many other things.
- It can save space.
- The height of the processor is said to be quite low.
- It will be able to run the latest games in full HD resolution on slim and sleek machines.
- It will be the first ever portable device with HBM2 memory.
- It will consume much less energy.
- Brilliant creation of 4K content.
- Enhanced performance, graphic quality and battery life.
AMD OR NVIDIA
Well this is a never ending war. AMD or Nvidia, which one is better. Different people will have different thoughts according to both. Thoughts can vary in people belonging to different fields or regions. As AMD is considered as cost efficient in many regions.
But all we can say is, Nvidia still holds the world when it comes to gaming but AMD has much for you in the coming time. These hybrid systems made as a result of Intel and AMD should be rolling out in the first quarter of 2018 hopefully.
NEWS FROM AMD
Before all this collaboration scenario a news was also there that RAJA KODURI the person in charge of RADEON TECHNOLOGIES has left AMD due to the failure of AMD RX VEGA GRAPHICS CARD. The problem with VEGA was that it had unacceptable consumption and performance did not meet the expectations. It was heard that Raja Koduri was on holidays and would join AMD from December. But now it has been confirmed that he has left AMD. The new leader of RADEON TECHNOLOGIES will be Lisa Su.
CONCLUSION
Well AMD is upto something along with Intel. I wonder how the NVIDIA team will be taking this situation. We can hope for something good and quite exciting. As we know something is coming our way in the early 2018. Nvidia holds a strong position which might not be easy to disturb.
The consequences uptill now, as reported by some sources are that the Intel shares are rising by +0.72 % and AMD by + 5.04%.
