Increase in car prices by leading manufacturers in Pakistan 2018

The leading automotive manufacturers in Pakistan have once again increased the car prices. The increase in price has been observed by Suzuki and Toyota for 2018. While Honda is also expected to present the increased price list in the upcoming days.

Car sales in Pakistan has increased to a noticeable level. It is being said that 2017 might be the year having the highest record car sales. The final figures have not been disclosed yet. But the sales figure  for the 11 months of 2017 according to some sources were 221,209 units. The figures include light commercial vehicles and jeeps. The sales for the same period of 2016 were 187,495 units. The sales in 2017 have increased to 18% as compared to 2016.

Well, that's a lot of cars sold. Obviously these cars produced are out on the roads. People here have become so fond of cars. The love of cars in Pakistan can be seen clearly. Young men have adopted cars as an hobby. Auto shows are being arranged regularly. This also has an effect on the number of sales. The traffic condition is also affected by this. Talking particularly about Lahore, the traffic conditions are quite difficult. The roads have become quite difficult to travel. The whole city is jammed during the busy hours and even in the late hours. Ferozepur road is one of the main arteries of the Lahore city and it is also facing traffic jams on a regular basis.

Let's talk about the price increases that will be effective from 1st January, 2018. Pak Suzuki has increased the prices of its various models from 10,000 to 20,000.
The prices of different variants of Suzuki Mehran has been increased by 10,000. The old price of Mehran VX was 679000 and after the increase is 689000. The price of Mehran VXR has been increased to 742,000 from 732,000.
The prices of Suzuki Wagon R has also been increased. The price of Wagon R VXL has been increased from Rs 1,094,000 to Rs 1,114,000.

Last week, Toyota increased the prices at the end of 2017. Toyota has increased the prices of some of its variants by 50,000 to 60,000. The price of Corolla GLI was increased from Rs. 1,734,000 to Rs. 1,819,000. The price of Toyota Corolla GLI with automatic transmission was increased from Rs. 1,939,000 to Rs. 2,024,000. The price of Toyota Corolla Altis 1.6 was increased from Rs, 2,084,000 to Rs. 2,199,000.

Honda is also expected to increase the prices and present the updated rate list in a few days. Buying cars in Pakistan has become rather expensive. This increase in price may not be a good news for the new buyers. The cars ordered in 2017 will be delivered according to the old rates. While the new bookings in 2018 will be done according to the updated prices.

There are various factors that affect the prices of the cars. The reason currently is the increase in the price of parts due to the devaluation of Ruppee. The locally assembled cars also depend upon raw materials that is imported from abroad. While the fluctuation in the value of ruppee has affected the auto market.

As these manufacturers are increasing the prices, some new car manufacturers like Kia, Hyundai, Renault and Fiat are also preparing to enter the Pakistani automotive industry. The competition for them would be quite tough. We hope that they introduce some low price cars with some standard features.
